Minutes of the Annual Meeting of Parishioners held at 7.00 pm on 17th May 2021
at 10B Meadow Lane, Thornhaugh
(Meeting held outside to comply with Covid Restrictions)

Chris Smith (Chairman)
Louise Molesworth (Vice Chairman)
Ashleigh Kewney
Martin Lewis
Adrian Rodgers

Gavin Elsey, Peterborough City Ward Councillor
Kay Lewis, Ellis Molesworth (Members of the Public)
Deirdre McCumiskey, Clerk to the Council

The Chairman made the following opening remarks:-

It’s great to see everyone face-to-face and it doesn’t seem possible that we haven’t been able to have a formal APM since June 2019. A lost year, but hopefully now a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you’ve managed to keep abreast of what the PC has been doing during that time via copies of the minutes and the occasional newsletter. We have been holding meetings via Zoom in order to continue with PC business and I am glad to say that some residents have joined us electronically during the year. Here’s hoping for better things in 2021.

Following a request to residents to say how they like to receive updates, although the response was low, very few wanted this electronically and we’ll therefore continue to do this via hardcopy.

There were apologies for absence from Alan Frost, Joan Frost and Hannah Joyce.

2. MINUTES of the Annual Meeting of Parishioners held on 3rd June 2019 were reviewed, approved as proposed by Ashleigh Kewney and seconded by Louise Molesworth and signed by the Chairman.

The Chairman’s Report for the Council Year 2020-2021 will be published on the Website and will be available from the Clerk.

Ellis Molesworth had the following issues that he wanted the Parish Council to consider:-
• The apparent reduced number of Red Kites and Buzzards being seen in the area. Those present had not seen a marked reduction in the kite population but this was something that would be kept in mind particularly as part of the John Clare Countryside Project.
• Having a ‘Tech-Free’ weekend. This was thought to be a beneficial idea and it would be advertised in a future newsletter to see if any resident wanted to take this forward.
• Village Sports Day. It was thought that this idea could be put to those who would be part of organising a village get-together.
• Play Area. Not thought to be a viable possibility since the land suggested in not owned by the Parish Council and the Parish Council would not be able to manage the legal liability aspects of a public play area.

These issues will be discussed at a future meeting.

There being no further business to discuss, the Chairman closed the meeting at 7.10 pm.
